Just image how much more effective you could be communicating better with people.

NLP training could help you develop the necessary skills.

The key is that if you want to communicate with and influence others more effectively the first step is to understand what is important to them.

We each have our own perception of reality which is different from everyone else as we all experience the world through our senses. You see/feel/hear things differently to anyone else because you filter all information through the memories of your previous experiences. Because our perception is only an approximation of the real world, it can be quite limited. As a result, our decisions and our behaviour can also be limited.

"With a deeper awareness of how the mind works and how it affects behaviour, you can unlock your own capabilities and your ability to influence others."

In NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) language this means you have a different 'map' to anyone else - imagine you were planning to travel from London to Brighton, not only could you choose to take a different route to someone else, you could have a different start and end point, and the map you were looking at could be different, depending on who had drawn it. As we all get to draw our own 'map' your map can be very different from mine.

When working, and indeed living, with other people we need to
recognise that they will have a different 'map' to us - they think differently.

To truly have a chance at understanding what others are communicating, you need to gain an understanding of the way other people are processing and using information.

With NLP Leader you can undertake a number of Certified Professional Programmes in NLP

All the courses provide a focused approach on exactly what you need to know to make NLP work effectively for you.

NLP helps us understand how people are different. We all have a preferred system through which we code our memories and experiences. Without us being consciously aware of it, our five senses of seeing, hearing, feeling, tasting and smelling are constantly receiving and processing information about the world around and within us. In NLP, we call these our representational systems.

By understanding how we perceive the world through our five senses, we can then understand how some people can respond very resourcefully in a situation and others do not. NLP models have been used to learn how those who remain resourceful set up their representations. This information can then be used to help you to learn how to also be resourceful.

NLP helps to provides clues or signals that we can use to establish what a person is doing internally and therefore which senses or combinations of senses they are paying attention to. This gives us a valuable insight into how their mind is working.

Also, by realising that people do things because they see them as important - and not just to spite us - we become more open and flexible. This helps us to empathise and put ourselves in the other person's shoes.

NLP was initially created in the 1970s by linguist Dr. John Grinder and computer scientist and Gestalt therapist Dr. Richard Bandler.

It started as a study into how psychotherapists and excellent communicators achieved results. Together Bandler and Grinder produced a linguistic model that identified the language patterns of a few gifted individuals such as Hypnotherapist: Milton Erickson, Gestalt Therapy: Fritz Perls, Anthropologist: Gregory Bateson and Family Therapy: Virginia Satir.

The study was originally undertaken to develop a set of techniques that would help therapists to become more effective. However NLP soon became a toolbox for improving interpersonal communication and its application spread to other fields.

In the 20+ years since it was first developed, NLP has grown, changed and expanded, and it continues to do so today.

The term NLP is made up of:
Neuro means the nervous system (or mind) through which you process your experiences via your five senses.
Linguistic is the language system through which you code and give meaning to your experiences.
Programming refers to the automatic programmes that you run in response to events around you - how we get the results we want for ourselves and others.
